Fellowship

JOURNEYING TOGETHER WITH JOY

Congregational Life

Community & Coffee

Why Christian Fellowship? For encouragement, to share one another's burdens, to forge unity, as we talk together in our witness of Christ Jesus. Our ministry goal is to encourage fellowship and hospitality among our congregation.  Following worship every Sunday, we create an opportunity for friends, new and old, to meet in the Social Hall for coffee, tea, and treats, to nourish our bodies as well as our spirits.  Weekly hosting is an all-volunteer effort, and, throughout the year, ministry members craft special and seasonal  fellowship events such as Birthday or Sundae Sunday.  Finally, we take the lead in hosting our congregation at the Hudson riverfront service and picnic – a highlight of our Church year!

Friday Night Book Club

Read Together – Share Together

Still going strong, the Church’s Friday Night Book Club has been meeting since 1985.  This ministry began as a discussion group focused on important issues of the day and grew into a monthly opportunity for participants to exchange views on current or important books and texts.  We’ve had a local psychologist lead a discussion on "I’m OK, You’re OK".   We’ve recently read and discussed "Night," "First Lie Wins," and "The 1619 Project."  Participation is enthusiastic, and discussions are always lively.

Bridge

Reaching Across the Table

Congregants host a monthly bridge game bringing together beginners, recent refreshers, and long-time players.  We help those who want it and teach those who are new to the game.  It’s low-key, relaxing, friendly, and fun.  Fellowship is the number one goal.  We meet and make new friends.  All are welcome!

Presbyterian Women of HOPE

Presbyterian Women of HOPE, our branch of PC(USA)’s Presbyterian Women, are committed:

  • to nurture our faith through prayer and Bible study,
  • to support the mission of the church worldwide,
  • to work for justice and peace, and
  • to build an inclusive, caring community of women that strengthens women and witnesses to the promise of God’s kingdom.

Men's Club

Community and Service

Begun as social group for the men of the church, the Men’s Club has evolved into a wonderful supporting organization for our Church’s youth.  Using the fellowship of fish fries and roast beef dinners, the Men’s Club raises scholarship money for young people who are heading off to college.  Among other things, the money they give has provided new computers and airplane tickets home for our scholars.  When we think of them, we lift up of prayers of gratitude . . . God Bless the Men’s Club!
